New England Amateur MMA

Rankings 7-2014

Two new champions have been crowned over the past month and a half. bantamweight amateur champion Jay Perrin has moved on to the pro ranks and rising bantamweight bully Manny Bermudez easily takes his spot after another convincing victory by way of submission. At 5-1 the South shore sport fighting ace grappler is more than deserving of the spot. Longtime champion and popular Maine NEF star, Buck Pineau was bumped from atop the ranks in a loss to Zack Elkins at the last NEF event. Elkins takes the spot at 12-5 with a big win over Pineau.

The flyweight division has now shaped up enough to make a top ten list with well over twenty athletes bumping up and down between flyweight and bantamweight as they make the move down. Kenny Murphy still hold the top spot as he has for almost two years now. Just behind him is Marques Brewster, but with a bantamweight title shot in the loom, Brewster may not make the flyweight rankings next time around.Kris Moutino has impressed lately and takes the 3 spot, but not far behind with 3 wins a piece are Nate Russell and Norman Fox. Sheridan Decristoforo also makes the list with his second straight win!

Aaron Lacy, Dan Dubuque, and Ricky Proctor all won their fights this past month and moved up the ranks respectively in the featherweight division. A fight between HM Kenny Peralta and Nestor X will make things interesting if Peralta is able to unseat the former #1 now #2 ranked fighter. Jake Pilla, and Billy Keenan are expected to fight in their respective promotions soon as well.

Some movement at lightweight as hard hitting James Hoyt (Burgess) improved to 3-0 with a win over previously unbeaten Lloyd Fernandez or Renzo NH. Renzo NH teammate Dylan Lockard put himself on the radar with an impressive domination of Bombsquad fighter Kevin Carrier 3-2. The former division 2 wrestling standout found himself outwrestled and beaten for three rounds by the newcomer. Jimmy Manning steals the #2 spot from Dan Lopez with a head to head win while caturing the Cage Titans Belt!
