Yesterday hometown hero Bekzod Abdurakhmonov won a Bronze medal for his country in the 2014 Wrestling World Championships, formerly the FILA championships.  He won it in the 70 kg weight class, which translates to a little over 154 lbs.  Bekzod is currently an undefeated prospect at Lightweight in MMA.  He has spent some time at Broadway Jiu Jitsu and Sityodtong, and has competed on the east coast in his last three bouts.  Most recently defeating Marcel Goncalves this past June at Victory Combat Sports 6 in Boston.  He also competed in CES in January defeating Andrew Osbourne.  He is aiming for a shot at the Olympic team in two years.  Here is a brief interview conducted immediately after his victory, courtesy of USA Wrestling

We look forward to Bekzod’s return to the USA, and hoping it’s back here in New England. He is currently ranked #10 here at Lightweight.
