Las Vegas — “Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series set to air live on UFC Fight Pass today at 8 PM EST. The series opener features local New England fighters and CES MMA veterans Matt “The Mangler” Bessette (22-7) and Greg “Ribz” Rebello (22-7).

“The Contender” series has been pitched as a farm league leading prospects up to the UFC, but at this time it is unclear the logistics of how a fighter would rise through the ranks of the series.

“The Mangler” Bessette takes on a featherweight bout against former UFC fighter Kurt Holobaugh (17-4). Bessette, the current CES featherweight champion, is currently riding a seven fight win streak recently defending his belt at CES 44 in May against Rey Trujillo.

Heavyweight Greg Rebello is also coming off a win on the same card against Kevin Ray Sears, and will meet Azunna “Zulu” Anyanwu (13-4) in a heavy weight match up.

Bessette and Rebello are both over the age of 30, and seriously making their perspective cases to be with the MMA elite within the UFC organization.

The fights will take place at the UFC Training Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Additional bouts include Charles Byrd against Justin Jones, Ricky Turcios against Boston Salmon, and Joby Sanchez against Manny Vazquez.
