Two More Local Fighters Slated on UFC Contender Series

Las Vegas – Tuesday night’s episode of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series will feature local CES star Carlos “The Cannon” Candelario.

The undefeated flyweight will face off against Ronaldo Candido De Oliveira who maintains an identical professional record of 6-0.  Candelario is currently ranked #5 in the  bantamweight division in New England.

Dana White’s latest promotion, which exclusively is featured on “UFC FIGHT PASS”, has garnered attention for its uniquely different approach to the reality fighting genre.  Fighters from a diverse array of weight classes are selected and square off in hopes of impressing White and receiving a UFC contract at the end of the night.  Typically only one fighter is selected at the conclusion of each week’s episode.

Joining Candelario on the following week’s episode of “The Contender” series is South Shore native and Lauzon MMA product Mike “Bones” Rodriguez is set to debut  in the light heavyweight division against Jamelle Jones.  Like Candelario’s opponent, Rodriguez and Jones share a professional record of 8-2.

Candelario and Rodriguez join fellow CES MMA veterans Matt Bessette and Greg Rebello on the “The Contender” series.  Although two previous New England bouts have taken place on the show, the prize of a UFC contract has remained elusive, and either fighter could be the first to bring home the goods.  Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series airs every Tuesday at 8 PM EST exclusively on UFC FIGHTPASS.
